WooWoo!! November is Rotary Foundation Month. As the holiday season approaches, I’m sure you’re looking forward to enjoying quality time with family and friends - I am too! This also is the season when we reflect on what we are thankful for in our lives.
I am grateful for all that our Rotary family does within our communities and around the world. And, I am reminded of The Rotary Foundation and how it helps power the work we do. It seems appropriate that the month of Thanksgiving is also Rotary Foundation Month. The Rotary Foundation’s mission is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education and the alleviation of poverty. We have the ability to come together and make a huge impact.
I have been amazed to see how you and your clubs continue giving to your local communities as well as to the Rotary Foundation. I know the needs in our local communities are greater now than ever before and I applaud your commitment to meet them. But even though your attention is first drawn to those concerns, please also look ahead to the future. Our Foundation is very unique in the way that it is structured. The money that you give this year to the Annual Fund is invested for three years and will come back to District 6380 in the form of District Designated Funds (DDF). Our District Grants are underwritten from the DDF we receive. To keep our District Grant program viable, we need the Rotary Foundation to be strong and well-capitalized so that we can continue to serve and fund projects in the years to come. I'm excited to see all that we are able to do as a District because of our members’ commitment to the Rotary Foundation and hope that commitment continues into the future.
While this month is Foundation month, you'll be hearing more all year about the good works our members, our clubs and our district are doing. District Doings
We had an amazing October raising awareness for the eradication of Polio and moving closer towards our District’s goal to raise over $100,000 for PolioPlus. Thank you to all who participated in and donated to the main events held last month in our District!
Way to go all Rotarians who supported our very successful District Wide All Member Fluid Station Support Event on October 17th. What a fun and amazing day assisting the event and the City of Detroit. We plan to continue our participation next year as an all member District event!

Foundation Highlights
Increased awareness and donations for The Rotary Foundation through seminars, club communication and the Foundation Gala
Increased PolioPlus awareness and donations (this was the largest single year since 2012) through club events and district presentations
Our District, Clubs and Members rallied and united in giving to Ukraine humanitarian efforts through the use of District Designated Funds, individual and Club donations to RI Disaster Response Fund, Shelter Box and also through personal donations directly to Ukraine Rotary Clubs
We're growing our membership! District 6380 has welcomed over 50 new members since July 2021! Club Presidents and Membership Chairs - please report new members to your Regional Membership Lead and your AG so they can be recognized at our upcoming celebration.
Get your ASK in Gear my fellow Rotarians!! Now is the time to support our District campaign of “Each One Bring One”. Our RI President, your District Membership Team and I ask that you bring one person to a meeting, event and/or social gathering to introduce them to our amazing Service Organization.
