Solicitation for Nominations 
Robert S. Northrup Humanitarian Award 

In 2018, the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor created an award to be given annually to a person meeting the criteria outlined below, in celebration of the exceptional humanitarian service provided by Ann Arbor Rotarian Dr. Robert S. Northrup. 

The individual must have made long term (multi-year) sustainable contributions to humanitarian efforts in local, national, or international arenas. The service provided should be a personal, not administrative, contribution. The recipient will be invited to present a 25-minute presentation to the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor on his or her work. 

The nomination can be made by any member of the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor, other area and regional Rotary club members, or a person from the community at large. Please complete the attached Nomination Form. 

Nominations are to include the following information: 

• Name, organization, and contact information of nominee; 

• Up to 1 page describing how the nominee has met the criteria of “sustainable contribution to humanitarian efforts” as defined below, plus any supporting materials; 

• Name, organization, and contact information of the nominator. 

Humanitarian service is defined as active service provided within the Rotary International Areas of Focus: 

• Peace and conflict prevention/resolution, including social justice; 

• Disease prevention and treatment; 

• Water, sanitation, and hygiene; 

• Maternal and child health; 

• Basic education and literacy; 

• Economic and community development; 

• Supporting the Environment 

Nominations will be reviewed by a panel of Rotarians and Community leaders. The candidate selected will be asked to attend the Award presentation and speak to the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor either in person or via Zoom on April 30, 2025.
