December Ridgetown Club Events

On the 8th of December, the club along with members from the First Ridgetown Scouts, participated in the annual town Christmas Parade. Besides having their own float, members of the Scouts rode on the Rotary float. The big Rotary wheel on our decorated float was built several years ago by the woodworking students from the École Secondaire De Pain Court, the French language high school in Paincourt, Chatham-Kent. It is shared by the clubs in both Ridgetown and Dresden, which is about 25 miles north of Ridgetown. Their parade was at 6:00 pm the same day, so there was some hustle shown getting the wagon over to the Dresden parade after our 1:00 pm parade. For a small town, the Ridgetown parade was great, lasting over 40 minutes.First Ridgetown Scouts

Our annual Christmas dinner and social gathering at Willson Hall was a fun gathering with many spouses of deceased members plus former members joining us for a wonderful meal, tricky Trivia contest and singalong with local entertainer Ron Fleming.From Dec. 10-14, club members once again manned the Salvation Army Kettle for their annual collection of money to go towards their Christmas food bank. As usual, folks in Ridgetown were very generous over the course of the week.Finally, we hosted a free skate at the Ridgetown Arena on New Year’s Eve, including hot chocolate and cookies. It was, as always, very well attended.
