RYLA is roaring back in 2019, and we need you and your club's support to make this year's program our best to date.  RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) is a weekend-long student leadership program designed to provide local teens with the leadership skills to create a positive impact on their communities.  RYLA is open to any high school student in grades 9-11.  RYLA will be held on April 12-14th at Camp Copneconic in Fenton, MI.  RYLA will cost $225US and $250CDN for each participant. A bus to transport Canadian Students will also be provide for a nominal fee.

Last year, just over 100 students participated in the program, but we know that we can do better. Consider these two facts:

1) Over 20 clubs in the district did not send students to RYLA in 2018, or historically have not sent students! - RYLA is a great chance to introduce local students to the world of Rotary. Interact and Exchange programs are given a lot of attention over the weekend and we have witnessed a number of Interact Clubs get started and students enrolling in the Exchange program because of RYLA. This doesn't even scratch the surface of the idea that this program impacts lives of those who participate.

2) A number of Interact Clubs do not send students. - Why would your club not want to support the leaders of your youth programs?  Make the reach to your Interact Clubs and get their leaders to RYLA. Its not a coincidence that those Interact Clubs that participate in RYLA are also the strongest and most active in the district.

To make your recruiting efforts easier, our RYLA Committee as created a number of editable templates to help you in your efforts. Just visit our website at www.6380youth.org and click on the RYLA tab. There you will find letters to school administrators, Interact advisers, and parents. There's even a sample presentation outline to use if you are speaking to a group about the program.

Begin recruiting now! The registration site will open mid-February, and you will want to have your participants lined up and ready to go.
If you have any questions, a speaker about RYLA, or need assistance finding students, please feel free to contact RYLA Chair, Jim Adams, at (248) 330-4449 or jimadams842@hotmail.com.
